Experience:
Desirable working experience as a Community Health Worker or Community Health Educator
Skills:
- Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel and internet) - Competencies: results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, stress management - Languages: English and a local language (Mizo and Tedim / Zomi) are compulsory, both speaking and writing; ability to speak or understand Burmese is an added advantage
Qualification:
Literacy is essential. An internal DWBI training on health messages is necessary. A certain level of knowledge in medical / health or in education is preferable.

Doctors Without Borders India (Médecins Sans Frontières) is hiring a Community Health Educator (1 full-time position) in Zokhawthar, Champhai, Mizoram, for 4 months (extendable based on operational needs), starting as soon as possible.
The Community Health Educator links community members with DWBI health services. The role reports to the Health Promotion and Community Engagement (HPCE) Manager.
Key responsibilities:
Health education, health talks, outreach and vaccination campaigns
Collecting community feedback and basic health data
Community mapping and working with local leaders
Community-based surveillance (illness, births and deaths), case finding and referral
Supporting diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses (malaria, diarrhoea, respiratory infections, malnutrition), depending on training
Health awareness work at the DWBI clinic, in the community and in refugee camps
Daily reporting to the HPCE Manager, keeping information confidential
