Qualification:
M.E. / M.Tech., or B.E. / B.Tech with a GATE / NET qualifying score, or an equivalent qualification, with first class in aggregate in Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering. OR M.Sc. in Atmospheric Physics / Climate Science or a relevant / allied discipline with a minimum of 60% marks.
Experience:
Desirable: - Basic knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing - Working knowledge of atmospheric physics / climate sciences / hydro-climatology / hydrology - Experience with a programming language such as MATLAB or Python

NIT Silchar invites applications from Indian citizens for one temporary post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF (Anusandhan National Research Foundation), Government of India sponsored project in the Department of Civil Engineering.
Project title: "Integrated assessment of urban microclimate and its impact on hydroclimatic extremes under changing climate: a multiscale modeling and monitoring framework for flood prone Silchar city".
The project aims to build a framework that combines urban microclimate variations with hydroclimatic modelling for better and more reliable prediction of plausible risks, and to prepare mitigation and adaptation strategies for sustainable and resilient urban development. The target city is Silchar.

Principal Investigator: Dr. Jayshree Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Silchar
Duration: 3 years or till completion of the project, whichever is earlier. The engagement of the selected candidate may be extended based on a performance review every 12 months.
