Assistant Manager / Manager – Communications (One each)

BASIX Academy for Livelihoods and Microfinance Practice (B-A-LAMP) is an entry level on-the-job training division of BASIX group, a livelihoods promotion institution working in 15 states across India. Our flagship program called ‘Triploma’ is a one year program that has been designed for fresh graduates. Students are trained in theoretical and practical concepts of Microfinance and Livelihoods promotion. This program offers job guarantee after successful course completion. The Academy also provides training to entry level professionals and customized training programs in Microfinance and Livelihoods promotion to professionals in India and abroad. It is headquartered at Hyderabad and has recently started chapters in Jaipur (Rajasthan) and Shillong (Meghalaya).

The Academy is now planning to expand into other thematic areas and would require varied expertise. In this regard, we are looking for persons with Mass Communication/ Communication background and experience.

Job Description

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Assist in managing all communication materials pertaining to website content management, publications, brochures, flyers, reports, e-learning materials, etc.

• Assist in simplification of learning materials to enable students to understand complicated concepts and materials with ease

• Assist in content and curriculum development in the subject concerned

• Undertake and/or assist in managing classroom and/or field sessions

• Document field experiences as and when required

• Provide assistance in preparing materials for promotional campaigns from time to time

Experience and skills
• Masters degree in Communications, Mass Communication, Journalism or related fields
• Minimum 3-4 years (for Assistant Manager) and 5-6 years (For Manager) of professional experience in the development sector in Communications and/or related field
• Excellent command over English and Hindi and preferably one other regional language
• Excellent command on and experience with MS Office in general and MS PowerPoint in particular. Experience with spreadsheets will be an added advantage
• Excellent inter-personal, communication, management, and organization skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Hindi is extremely important

Cost to Company (CTC)

For Assistant Manager Cadre, the CTC will be in the vicinity of Rs. 2.8 Lakh per annum and for Manager Cadre it will be Rs. 3.6 – 4 Lakh per annum. This is inclusive of PP (Performance Pay) which is a ‘variable’.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• In a quantifiable way, spread information about Triploma program and the Academy to the student fraternity in rural and semi urban areas of India
• Liaise with relevant rural development projects and programs, Non-governmental organizations, government organizations and academic institutions for marketing the course
• Liaise with BASIX group companies as and when required
• Make formal presentations about the academy and Triploma program in relevant forums
• Liaise with prestigious corporate foundations and scout for scholarships for supporting poor students undertaking the Triploma program
• Initiate association with other MFIs/ NGOs in India for providing placement opportunities to outgoing students

Skills/ Knowledge required
• Masters degree in Business administration (MBA) and allied fields
• Minimum 3-4 years professional experience in core marketing/ brand building preferably in prestigious academic institutions
• Excellent inter-personal, communication, management, selling, presentation and organization skills
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills and fluency in English and Hindi required. Knowledge of one other regional language will be an added advantage.

Senior Faculty Associates from diverse backgrounds will oversee the academic and administrative responsibilities of the Triploma program.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Plan and execute the Triploma program classes/ field training spread over one year
• Provided assistance in content and curriculum development in the subject concerned
• Take theory sessions for students
• Plan and execute capacity building trainings, workshops and related events
• Provide assistance in paper setting, conducting exams and evaluation for students
• Coordinate one batch of students for implementation of field based training
• Provide assistance in promotional campaigns from time to time in brand building, marketing and selecting students.
• Counseling and mentoring students

Skills/ Knowledge required
• Masters degree in Social work, Sociology, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Banking, Insurance, Agriculture or related fields
• Minimum 4-5 years professional experience in the above mentioned fields
• Excellent inter-personal, communication, management, and organization skills
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills and fluency in English and Hindi required
