Job Description: ABOUT the COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (CDP): Majority of the people of the interior villages of Northeast India are victims of social, cultural & economic exploitation because they have had no or very little education. Therefore, AIDA, with the help of the German foundation Childaid Network, started a community based approach for youth literacy (Community school programme) for school-drop out youth in 2007. Currently the programme is operating in 6 districts of Upper Assam and 4 districts of Manipur. The programme has expanded its outreach and follows a holistic approach. It targets to achieve the following objectives under its MISSION 2025: 1. To support school drop-out youth (15-25 years) to gain literacy and numeracy, financial literacy, gain saving habits, work-related skills, and encourage them to put the skills to use and earn a livelihood. 2. To make sure that all children go to school and remain in school at least until age 14 and learn well. 3. To support communities to hold their government departments accountable to make sure the RTE act and other respective policies are implemented. 4. To train and motivate families to save money well and spent for most important issues (education, nutrition, health, investments) only. 5. To train and encourage various local groups (VEC, SMC, Youth, Women group, SHG, Panchayat) to actively work towards developmental issues.
