Job Description: Job opening for the post of Education Facilitator for Learning Ecosystem and Augmentation Project the ant (the action northeast trust) Base: Rowmari, north of Chapaguri, Dist Chirang Application Deadline: 31st May 2018 WORKING CONTEXT/BACKGROUND the ant is a not for profit agency registered under the Religious & Charitable Trusts Act and has been working on health, education, women’s and children’s rights, income generation, etc. (for more details, please go through www.theant.org and read old annual reports) ever since its inception since the year 2000. It also works and supports other NGOs in the northeast by capacity building programmes and financial support. The region has been characterised by poor economic development, weak governance and insurgency in many of the seven states. the ant makes an attempt to address these issues while working with the communities. Working without prejudice to caste, creed, religion or community, the ant’s work is supported by grants from funding agencies, contributions from individual donors, as well as from the finances generated from Development Education and Development Literature. Job Title: Education Facilitator (Middle School) Reports To: Education Executives Department/Project: Learning Ecosystem and Augmentation Project (LEAP) Grade: I B (Part Time) Location: Chirang, 80% of travelling to partner schools Job Summary • Required to work 4-5 hours per day as part-time worker for 6 days per week. However, during training of teachers in Government Middle Schools, School Management Committee meeting, and special day celebrations, will be expected to attend as per the requirement of the activity upto maximum of 5 days per month. • Responsible for 5 schools, visit once or twice a week to provide mentoring support to the teacher. In the absence of the teacher, responsible to conduct classes using Lab-in-box, Math curriculum or English as per training of teachers conducted by the ant. • Facilitate and mentor children to be Conscious Citizens through activities that are socially useful like Keeping the School Toilets clean, planting trees and growing Vegetable Gardens as per curriculum of the ant’s projects. • Help in maintenance, rotation and storage of materials required for science practicals following the Lab-in-Box trainings and procedures. • Facilitating science model-making with students and teachers. • Attending basic training and other workshops from time to time to effectively carry out tasks as given. • During school summer and winter vacations, working with the teachers or as per instructions of the ant’s LEAP project for a similar period of 4 to 5 hours 6 times a week. • Efficient documentation and reporting of project activities as per project guidelines. Essential requirements: • Graduates preferably with science background will be recruited as Education Facilitators (EFs) for Middle Schools. • Ability and demonstrable experience of teaching. • Good personal hygiene, neat & tidy look and good personal habits so that students can look upto such a personality. • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills • Ability to document and prepare field reports independently • Co-ordination and organizing skills • Ability to travel independently. • Willingness to learn and adapt to changes as required from time to time • Effectively work with diverse communities. • Speaking, Reading and Writing Bodo and Assamese. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly word and excel will be an added asset • Women will be preferred as per policies of the ant. Candidates from SC/ST and marginalised or minority communities are also provided preference when other criteria are matching.
